| Lemy & Rascal returned to Earth after their adventures on the planet Martoc (see our previous stories, especially those on the blue foxes and the mysterious SuperTrain). | |

|
Back on Earth, they settled down on one of the uninhabited islands in the Pacific ocean. There, they built a huge underground complex in the hope of providing refuge* to all lemurs, raccoons and foxes because they knew that Mr Weasel and his muck monsters will be heading out to Earth. |
Mr Weasel, if you didn't know, captures these animals to sell in space zoos around the galaxy. Below, you'll find pictures and a description of all the characters who will appear in this four-part story. |

Lemy -
a smart Lemur, adventurer and |
Rascal - a raccoon with an eye for gold & riches. Also a great inventor. |
Mr Weasel - one bad dude who makes money by catching and selling other animals to zoos. |
|
Muck Monsters - space pirates who help Mr Weasel. They travel about by turning the ground into a liquid or watery muck so that they can glide about. Lemy & Rascal are terrified of these creatures. |
Blue Foxes - from the Planet Martoc. They have two tails. A long time ago, they may have come from earth - but nobody knows for sure. |
SuperTrain
is from another world and travels about in the spaceship called the TrainStar.

Anyway, back to the story....the two stripey-tailed critters found a deserted island where they set up their new homebase, and started to do some land reclamation**. |
| "What's
this 'land reclamation' that I keep hearing about,?" asks Lemy curiously.
"Where did you hear that word being used?" answered Rascal. |
"Well," said Lemy. "There's this guy who's writing our stories,and he keeps using big words that I don't understand".
"That's because our stories are supposed to be a little bit more educational these days, and so whoever reads the story, has to learn a few new words each week." replied Rascal wisely.
"Ah-ha! So that's what all those funny markings are for !" said Lemy. "I saw them at the bottom of the page."
"Well...never mind about all those words, let's stick to the story, and do the digging now, OK?" said Rascal, as he picked out some digging tools from the space ship.
And so, the two of them started to increase the size of the island. They had a lot of work to do, before they could invite all the other animals to stay with them...

Some new words to
learn this week:
* refuge
- a safe place, to hide in or to stay
** land reclamation - to "reclaim" or take back. In this case, it means digging
up the soil from around the edges of the island, so
that eventually, the island gets bigger. Lemy, of course, will
hate to do all that work.
