They were on the prowl again - trying to hunt him down like they did the last time. "Hah!" thought Lemy, "they'll never get me!" "A ring-tailed lemur has more brains than a whole pack of hunters…but it’s time I moved on, because one day, their traps are going to work".

Lemy, proud inventor of the Lemur jet-pack, was always very sure of himself. But he was tired of being treated like an animal…to be hunted down…and sold to the zoos. No, there was no future for him here. He would have to pack his bags and head west. And one day, he would return and teach all lemurs how to think like proper animals. "Humans always think we’re just dumb animals", he said to himself. "but the animal kingdom is changing faster than humans realize." Late
that night, Lemy packed his belongings into a little cloth bag and strapped
on his jet- pack. He had emptied out a whole can of petrol from the hunters'
jeep earlier that afternoon, and stuffed dirt into the jeep's petrol tank.

vr-o-o-o-o-o-m! A couple of minutes later, he spied the hunters’ campfire and tents from way up in the sky. "Perhaps I should give them something to think about", he thought, as he circled round again. The hunters were startled as a bright light came hurling down on them from the dark night sky. "Yahhhhhhhhh!!!!!", screamed the light as it swooped down on them, terrifying the hunters and making them scatter in all directions. "There!" said Lemy to himself as he flew off, "that ought to do the job…." |
