| CONTRIBUTIONS FROM: Heng Cui Shan: Devious will definitely want to give Lemy to Mr Weasel. Lemy may not know that the diamond is fake and he is falling into a trap. This will lead to very interesting things! The transmitter is for Devious to know where Lemy is and it will also most probably lead Devious to Rascal too...... Previously on Lemy & Rascal..............Lemy is unaware that devious Duck has a transmitter placed in the fake diamond he sold to the Lemur. READ ON |
| Now that Lemy had bought the diamond, he
was satisfied*(1) with himself. As he hurried home, he sang a little lemur
tune and skipped along happily. (If you know anything about lemurs, you'll
know that the tunes are usually cute-sounding and are normally sung with
cute dance-steps too)
He didn't suspect anything and looked at the diamond ring with pride. "Wait till Rascal takes a look at this gem!" he grinned to himself. |

Strapping*(2) on his
jetpack, Lemy made sure that the ring was held tightly in his left hand.
He didn't even want to keep it in his pocket because he was afraid that
the ring might drop out.
He returned to the island and quickly went about looking for Rascal. |
| Rascal was very pleased for his little lemur friend. He
knew that Lemy's loss of his home-made ring had been bothering the little
guy and now, it seemed as if everything was fine again.
"That's a great big diamond you have there," he said to Lemy. "May I take a look?" |

Lemy eagerly held out the ring for Rascal, but as his friend reached out for it, the ring suddenly slipped away and fell to the solid stone floor below. |

"PWIIINGRACK" - it was the most awful sound the two friends heard. The "diamond" was smashed into tiny little bits. Rascal looked horrified*(3) at the thought of what he had done. THERE WAS ABSOLUTE SILENCE... ---------------------------- AND THEN...

| You.....you....broke....my....my....WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! -
Lemy sobbed*(4) again.
Rascal was a very sorry raccoon, because of what had happened to his friend's diamond ring. They were silent for a quite a while because neither knew what to say. "Wait a minute," said Rascal suddenly. "If that's a diamond, then.....how could it be smashed so easily? Afterall, diamonds are supposed to be very solid, right?" |

Some new words to learn this week:
(*1) satisfied - to feel good and happy about something that one has
done.
(*2) strapping - to fix something securely.
(*3) horrified - in this story, the word actually means to be very shocked at somthing that has happened..
(*4) sobbed - to cry as if one is very, very upset. In Lemy's case, he had a very good reason to be upset.

| Devious Duck was busy at the back of his store
listening to his transmitter inside Lemy's diamond ring.
He was also able to track exactly where Lemy had gone to because the transmitter acted like a beacon that would direct the duck to Lemy's location. As he looked at the WANTED poster again, he put on an evil grin, and laughed to himself. "Now, I'm going to make a lot of money - when I tell Mr Weasel where those two critters have been hiding all this time. |
