With Lemu gone, Lemy was depressed*(1) again.

He had a chance to impress her with that special ring that he made, but he made the mistake of swallowing it, and therefore, had nothing to show her while she was here.

The more he thought about it, the more upset he got. Rascal noticed this immediately and asked Lemy to share his problems.

"Well, I really goofed*(2) this time," said Lemy

"Why?" asked Rascal, knowing that Lemy was referring to the swallowed piece of jewelry that Lemy had made.

"Well, I know Lemu said that
  she was impressed..." replied
Lemy. "But that isn't nearly as
  good as being able to
  present it myself, right?"

Rascal agreed, but at the same time, thought about it a little more deeply. "Hmmm....I remember receiving some piece of advertising*(3) that mentioned something about jewelry....now where did I put it?"

Shortly afterwards, Rascal found the paper and told Lemy his idea.
"Why not pick up a new piece altogether and present this to Lemu when they return?" he said with a sparkle in his eyes. "That way, Lemu will have her ring and she'll get another one as soon as SuperTrain finds it in your stomach."

"That's a Great Idea!!" responded Lemy cheerfully.

Feeling much better, the pair settled down to some fresh eggs which Lemy had just collected. And after breakfast, Lemy flew off to the village on the far side of the mountains - on the mainland, where there were jewelry sellers. (according to the advertisement).

Now, over at the island, Mr D.DUCK or Devious Duck*(4) was happily setting up shop, anticipating new visitors.
Since he had sent out his advertising leaflets, the sales of jewels had gone up and he was happy. What most people didn't know about this duck was that he was actually a "rotten egg". He had been selling polished glass to his customers and not diamonds at all.

Since most of the animals couldn't tell the difference, Devious made quite a bit of money from his sales. This duck was also a friend of Mr Weasel (well, you know how bad THAT guy was), and he also had a WANTED poster of the Lemur and Raccoon who had been eluding Mr Weasel for so long.

So, you can imagine his surprise when Lemy walked into his little make-shift store.

"Wow, it's that Lemur who's wanted by Mr Weasel!!!" said Devious to himself. "Now's my chance to make mega-bucks!!"

Devious quickly went out to meet Lemy before the Lemur moved on to another store. Quickly he said to Lemy. "Welcome! Can I interest you in some extra special but really cheap DIAMONDS??"

"DIAMONDS??!!" responded Lemy drooling, as he looked at the jewels in front of him.

"Wait a while..." said Devious, "I have some extra big diamonds in the back of my store, just for you!"

"WONDERFUL!" replied Lemy gleefully.

Devious quickly went to the back of the store and found a really big diamond. Then, he inserted a transmitter into the the piece of glass (remember, these weren't real diamonds, and Lemy was going to get cheated) and went back to the sell it to Lemy.

When Lemy saw the size of the diamond, he was extremely impressed. The "diamond" was bigger than he had expected, and he was completely fooled into thinking that it was real.

"Lemu will definitely like this!" thought Lemy to himself, as he reached into his pockets to pay for the jewel.

He made the purchase, and headed home, little realising that this was firstly, a fake diamond, and secondly - that it had a transmitter in it.

(*2) goofed - to make a mess of things or to spoil something that would have been great otherwise.

(*3) advertising - to advertise means to tell others about something that you have - usually its because you want to sell things.

(*4) Devious - someone who is not usually truthful and often tricks you but in a nasty way. In this story, Devious Duck is a CHEAT.
