COOKIE'S EGGS - as reported by Rascal Raccoon [English Spelling Exercises]
"Where are the eggs!?" cried a familiar but grumpy voice.
It was Lemy and he was vexed because some foxes had been overjoyed in finding and stealing his stash of eggs.
He was soon relieved to learn that Cookie had stopped the foxes by making them terrified and intimidated by his massive size. By rolling close by, he made the foxes give up the stolen eggs.
Rascal had seen what had happened. It was now the turn of the foxes to be moody. They were frustrated and furious that the giant biscuit spoiled their plan.
Anyway, Cookie rolled along and caught up with a glum and anxious Lemy, and handed back the eggs, explaining that the foxes had taken them.
Lemy stared with disbelief at the eggs. He felt sure that he had seen the last of them when they were taken. He really wanted to thank Cookie but as usual, the lemur was rather bashful. So, he gave Cookie two of the eggs.
Cookie didn’t want to accept them at first, but he felt uneasy that the lemur was trying so hard to thank him. So, he accepted the eggs and ate them. Immediately, he felt rather queasy.
"Oh no," said Lemy. "You have to cook the eggs first!"
Rascal took note of what had happened, and then wrote this story.
